National Guard Association of Florida: Your Professional Association. Your Heritage. Your Unified Voice Since 1903.
The National Guard Association of Florida (NGAFL) represents the rich heritage and unified voice of Florida's citizen soldiers and airmen. We are not a military organization, but an organization OF military personnel - forged from the historic merger of two proud associations: the Enlisted National Guard Association of Florida (ENGAFL) and the National Guard Officers Association of Florida (NGOA-FL).
What makes us unique is our complete dedication to the National Guard. As the state affiliate of EANGUS (Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States) and NGAUS (National Guard Association of the United States), we are the ONLY associations that fight exclusively for National Guard interests - no other military branches, no divided attention.
Our Heritage & Evolution: A Legacy of Advocacy Since 1903
1
1903
The National Guard Officers Association of Florida was established, making us one of the oldest military advocacy organizations in the state. For over a century, we've provided a strong, united voice for Florida's Guard officers in legislative affairs.
2
1970
The Enlisted National Guard Association of Florida was formed, joining the national EANGUS organization to ensure enlisted personnel had equal representation and advocacy.
3
The Historic Merger
Originally two separate associations with parallel missions, we made the strategic decision to unite our efforts. This merger created a more powerful, unified voice that represents all ranks and components under one banner while maintaining the distinct heritage and traditions of both organizations.
4
The Symbolism of Unity
Our current logo represents this historic merger - incorporating elements from both founding associations to symbolize our strengthened collaboration and increased resilience. Two organizations became one family, demonstrating that together we are stronger.

Organizational Structure
The NGAFL operates under a joint governance structure that ensures representation across all ranks and components:
Executive Council
Elected leadership representing both enlisted and officer components, serving staggered terms to provide continuity and democratic representation.
Committee Structure
Specialized committees handle key organizational functions including:
- Membership and Outreach
- Finance and Budget
- Legislative Affairs
- Scholarship Administration
- Bylaws and Governance
State and National Integration
Our state-level advocacy combines with national efforts through EANGUS and NGAUS, amplifying Florida's voice on Capitol Hill and in Pentagon discussions.
Our Mission & Scope
What Drives Us
The National Guard Officers Association of Florida was established, making us one of the oldest military advocacy organizations in the state. For over a century, we've provided a strong, united voice for Florida's Guard officers in legislative affairs.
Legislative Heritage
For over 120 years, we've maintained an unbroken record of legislative advocacy. We've evolved from advocating for basic Guard recognition to today's complex issues involving federal funding, equipment modernization, benefits parity, and family support programs.
Relationship with National Organizations
EANGUS Connection
Founded in 1970, EANGUS represents enlisted National Guard members across all 50 states, territories, and the District of Columbia. As their Florida affiliate, we contribute to a unified national voice while addressing Florida-specific issues.
NGAUS Partnership
Established in 1878, NGAUS is the oldest military association in the United States. Our officers association's 1903 founding made us one of their earliest state affiliates, cementing our role in national Guard advocacy.

Our Commitment to Excellence

120+ Years of Uninterrupted Service
From the Spanish-American War era through today's global operations, we've maintained continuous advocacy for Florida's Guard members. Our longevity speaks to the enduring value we provide and the trust placed in us by generations of citizen soldiers and airmen.

Exclusive Focus on the Guard
Unlike other military associations that represent multiple branches, our mission is 100% dedicated to National Guard issues. This focused advocacy ensures that Guard-specific concerns - from drilling pay to deployment benefits to equipment needs - receive dedicated attention.

State-National Integration
Our dual relationship with EANGUS and NGAUS creates a powerful advocacy network. Local issues identified in Florida combine with similar concerns from other states to build compelling cases for national policy changes.
Heritage
Over 120 years of continuous advocacy and institutional knowledge.
Unity
The successful merger of officer and enlisted associations under one banner.
Focus
Exclusive dedication to National Guard interests and concerns.
